In 1853, Briones married a wealthy American businessman named William Parker. The couple had two children together, but their marriage was short-lived. Parker died in 1858, leaving Briones a widow with two young children to support.

After her husband's death, Briones faced many challenges. She was a single mother in a time when women had few options. But Briones was determined to make a good life for herself and her children. She opened a small store in Monterey, and she also worked as a translator and interpreter.

Briones' business ventures were successful, and she soon became one of the most prominent businesswomen in Monterey. She was also active in her community. She served on the city council, and she helped to establish a number of schools and orphanages.

In 1885, Briones published her autobiography, "Recuerdos de la California Antigua" ("Memories of Old California"). The book was a bestseller, and it helped to make Briones a household name in California.

Juana Briones died in 1904 at the age of 67. She was a remarkable woman who lived a life of adventure and accomplishment. She was a pioneer in her own right, and she helped to shape the history of California.

Juana Briones is a role model for women everywhere. She was a strong and determined woman who overcame many challenges. She was a successful businesswoman, a community leader, and a writer. She left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire people today.
