Agnes Jack was a Coast Salish woman who lived her entire life on the shores of Oyster Bay. She was a skilled weaver, a knowledgeable healer, and a gifted storyteller. Her stories, which are shared in this book, offer a unique glimpse into the culture and traditions of the Coast Salish people.
The author of this book, Dr. Sarah Carter, is a professor of anthropology at the University of Victoria. She has spent many years working with Coast Salish communities in British Columbia. She is the author of several books on Indigenous history and culture, including the award-winning book "Weaving the Past: Coast Salish Baskets and the Politics of Representation."
